Decent Bargain for an Electric
By TN Leaf | on Friday, June 21, 2019
I've had this car for a year now, mostly using it for my short 17 mile commute to work. With 156 miles of range, I can charge a little more than once per week. My SV came loaded with navigation, pro-pilot assist, lane departure, self-adjusting cruise control, etc. But really you don't need those fancy features because you don't have enough range for interstate trips. The biggest complaint is no telescoping steering wheel, I'm 6 feet tall and it's very hard to get a comfortable position. Also the back seat is too tight for my upcoming teenage boys. This is a great 2nd or 3rd car, not good as a primary. Maybe soon the ranges will increase to 300+ and then all the interstate gadgets will actually come in handy.… - 3.0
Typical Nissan boring, but cheap to run
By Coinneach | on Thursday, October 31, 2019
I've had my Leaf SV Plus since new for six months. I was determined to go pure electric and an experience with Brand T left me convinced to never buy another car from them. No other BEV met the Leaf's specs. First, the good: it's stupid cheap to run, especially since Nissan provides two years of No Charge To Charge service for 50kW, 30 minutes at a shot (sufficient to bring the battery from 20-ish to 75-ish percent). If you have rooftop solar and a NEMA 14-50 outlet at home, you can finish the final 20 percent at home for pennies. I get 4.4kWh/mile with Ecodrive turned on; with the 62kWh battery, that's a solid 260 miles of range as long as you take it easy. One-pedal driving works well but needs an occasional dab on the brakes. Adaptive cruise is reasonably competent. And that's about it. The bad: an annoying spool-up whine on acceleration. Armrests are way too low and the seat position is way too high. The steering wheel tilts but doesn't telescope. The rear seats don't fold flush with the cargo area. The recessed handle to pull down the hatch is extremely awkward. The rear-view camera glitches at random. The infotainment system reboots at random. And the price: $42K. Considering the mediocre build quality and lack of active battery cooling, that's absurd. OK, I drive it for basically free, but come on. Knock $10K off the price and it would be more in the ballpark. In sum: 4/10, do not recommend.… - 5.0
Best way to get a new, reliable EV 50% off MSRP
By 40KWHLEAF | on Thursday, December 24, 2020
Best deal around on a EV with 150 mile range because the following result in about a 50% discount from MSRP: $7500 fed rebate + $5000 Nissan incentives + dealers will negotiate $5000 off price. That’s $17,500 off MSRP and even more if your state provides rebates. You get a brand new, reliable, efficient, EV with all the latest safety features for $15,000 - $22,000 depending on trim level and availability of state rebate.…
