Chico Mazda has a rich history rooted in passion, hard work, and community. As a family owned and locally owned dealership, it has always been driven by a commitment to customers and neighbors alike. Founded by Mark Abouzeid, a former mechanic who transitioned from fixing cars to selling them, the dealership was built on perseverance and dedication. Mark's journey began when he moved from Millbrae, California, to Chico in the early 1980s, starting as a mechanic at a local dealership. After being offered a mere 50-cent raise, he boldly rolled his toolbox home and became his own boss just five days later, opening Automotive Elite behind Madam Ruby's on Mangrove Avenue — a humble beginning that set the stage for what is now proudly under new ownership.

In 1985, Mark established Automotive Elite, specializing in European auto repair. By 1991, his business made history as the first factory-authorized, non-dealer Volkswagen Audi Service Point in the United States. In 2002, it evolved into the first Service Point to convert into a full Volkswagen dealership in the country. This unique journey from technician to dealer laid the foundation for what Chico Mazda is today.

As we turn the page to a new chapter, Chico Mazda is poised for growth and revitalization. My name is Mark Meyer, and I am proud to serve as the new Dealer Principal. Like Mark Abouzeid, my path in the automotive world has been fueled by hard work and a deep respect for the people who make this industry exceptional. I began my career as a salesperson at 19, worked my way up to General Manager, and now, I am honored to lead Chico Volkswagen Mazda.

We appreciate the history and efforts of Mark and Amy Abouzeid in establishing Chico Volkswagen Mazda as a trusted family owned and locally owned dealership. Now, we are focused on ushering in a new era of growth and excellence.
